Another First!
Well, Cole got his first haircut on Saturday...but the pictures that we took on Ronnie's phone are being held for ransome...by Ronnie's phone...and I haven't figured out exactly how to negotiate with that little device to get it to release them...so no pictures right now!!!
Let me tell you...it was indeed an adventure!!! That boy screamed bloody murder EVERY time that poor woman got anywhere near him with the scissors!! I told Ronnie that the next haircut better be easier...or Cole will just have long hair until he is old enough to take himself.

I guess I’ll try to do a complete update. Work and home have been super duper busy…and I am SO exhausted! But I never really get a chance for a break. But, I can’t really complain…I have a job that pays me well and I have an adorable baby that runs me ragged…so I’ll just deal!
Christmas was a lot of fun. We went to Ronnie’s parent’s house Christmas Eve day. I got off work at noon that day (a Christmas present from the president of the company) and Cole and Ronnie picked me up from work and we headed straight over to their house to open presents and play for a little while. His Dad and brother left the house as soon as we finished opening presents to go to the store…so we decided to leave and go up to my parent’s house. We spent the entire weekend with my family. Tatton & Abbie and Tiber were the only ones who weren’t able to make it…so we had a pretty good crowd! It was a lot of fun. Cole had an absolute BLAST!! He got spoiled ROTTEN! And he LOVED the part about ripping the paper off the packages!!
Our lists of loot:
Cole: 1 big honkin’ Tonka dump truck, 1 big honkin’ stuff bear (that he called doggie), a plastic tool/workbench, several smaller trucks, a dinosaur that walks and growls (and scared the shit out of him!), and a wagon full of big leggos.
Ronnie: Work boots, tools, and tools!! (REDNECK!!!!)
Me: A new red wool winter coat (that I have only gotten to wear like 3 times cuz it’s been so warm this year), a counter-top deep fryer (which has gotten more use than the coat!!), several DVD’s, and a garnet & citrine bracelet (from Ronnie’s mom).
We did pretty well. I LOVE my fryer…you can also use it for steaming and boiling…and it is WONDERFUL!!!
New Year’s was pretty un-eventful. Ronnie’s mom’s birthday is New Year’s Eve, so that kinda takes the party out of the day. Plus, we both had to work the day before and the day after…so we were really tired. On New Year’s Eve we went to his parent’s house and had dinner with his family, we were home and in bed by 9:30. New Year’s day we didn’t even bother to get out of our pajamas!! We laid around the house and watched movies and played with Cole (which is my idea of the perfect day anyways, so I am not complaining at all).
My birthday was pretty good. I had to work, of course…but after work we went out to dinner to the Olive Garden with Talon, Bridget, Brandy, and their mom. Then Talon came back to the house and he played bartender until I screamed “UNCLE!!” Ever since I had Cole, I have been unable to drink wine or the pre-made mixed drinks or Smirnoff Ice…anything like that…I break out in hives from head to foot and I get all puffy!!!! BUT…I can still drink hard liquor…so it ain’t ALL bad!! But because of my limitations…I really haven’t drank a whole lot since about February of 2007…so I am a CHEAP drunk!! Talon and Ronnie found that absolutely hilarious. Jerks.
So, I know I have said it about a thousand times…but it always seems to catch me by surprise…but I CANNOT believe how quickly Cole is growing up!!!! We took him to the park on Sunday because it was a GORGEOUS day…75 degrees, beautiful sunshine, cool breeze every now and then…absolutely PERFECT! The little monster had SO much fun…he was kinda shy-acting at first because there were a lot of other kids there…but then he started playing and exploring and he was off like a shot! And he did not want our help in ANY way! There were several times when he got himself tripped-up and he fell down…he would NOT let us help him get back up! He would swat our hands away and give us this look like, “I got it! I’m grown! Go sit on the bench with the rest of the old people!!” It was so funny. And he walked all the way back to the car on his own when it was time to go home. He did NOT want to be carried. I just can’t believe it. At Thanksgiving, he was just starting to get the hang of walking. He could take a few steps, and then he would be back down on the ground…crawling was still his main mode of mobility. Now, just a short month later…he is RUNNING every where he goes!!!!!!!! The only time he ever crawls now is when we are playing with him and we are crawling and chasing him.
And his little personality is SO damn funny!! He talks ALL the damn time!! The only real words that he says so far are momma, daddy, doggie, and bottle…but he will chatter on and on and on for hours at a time. Last night Talon came over for dinner…Cole sat in his lap and talked to him for a solid 15 minutes!! It’s hilarious! I just wish I knew exactly what he was trying to say!!! When we were up at my parents, Cole made the connection that dad always has a bottle of pepsi with him…one morning Cole got up and found one of “Grumpy-Papa’s” half-empty Pepsi bottles in the living room. He picked it up, carried it down the hallway to my parent’s room, pushed the door open and walked over to Dad and held up the bottle and said, “Papa! Papa!” It was SO cute!! And now he is trying to say Rico’s name…we call him “Ricky” as a silly nickname (Ricky Bobby from “Talladega Nights”, yeah, it’s a redneck thing)…Cole can’t figure out the “r” sound…so he calls him “Dicky”!! Again…SO cute!!! I don’t have a baby anymore…I have a little boy! An independent, social butterfly, chatty cathy, little boy!!! Who laughs hysterically if he can get a true “Ouch” out of you!!! Yeah, he’s a sick little kid!!
That's all...gotta run...still have work to do!!
